Over the course of the semester, we have explored writing, photography, audio, video and design. We’ve remixed and mahed up, worked solo and in a group, and completed big projects and small. But now, as the semester winds down, it’s time to bring it all together for one final mission.
This week has been preety stressful as the semester is winding down and I am beginning to get down to finishing and turning in all of my final assignemtns.
Witht hat being said, I am glad that there wasnt too much to do this week for our final mission other than plan.
For starters, the plan for my final mission is to develop my initial idea I had a couple of weeks ago to make a secret agent video game. I really like the idea of making a video game, becasue I think it is one element of strytelling we haven’t really dived into but also combines all the elemtns of writing, audio, design, video and photography.
A couple of classmates liked my idea and we have decided to team up as a group! Matt, Karim, Christina, and I have decided to work altogther on this final mission to come up and release a full-scale video game launch!
The first part of planning for this week was coming up with a game ida. I like the idea of making a game centered around either the idea that the world is ending and using your own secret agent character, you must undergo a mission to save it! But be careful, one wrong move and you could either get captured, get assasinated, or set of the detanator early! Another idea I have is that your identity as a secre tagent has been comprimised and you have been framed for a crime that you did not commit. Your assignemtn is to clear your name as well as find out who framed you and stop whatever they have planned to do next! We as a group have a couple of different individual ideas for our game and will plan on finalzing it over the weekend.
Witht hat being said, we would love to have y’alls opinion in the comments about my ideas or any idea you would like for a game you would want to play!
The next part of planning this week was to decide how to actually make our game.
As a group, we looked at a couple of different tools to make our own video game, and we have settled down to a couple.
One webiste is Twine. Twine is a site that was intoruduced to me in another class. A couple of my classmates made a video game for thier final project, and they used twine. Twine looked really user friendly and gave you the chance to map out a full game in which you gave the user multiple choices and based on the choice you choose there are positive and negative consequences. However, I am not too familiar with how audio and video can get incorproated using Twine and have to look more into that.
Another website I have heard about it BuilBox. BuildBox, like Twine, allows you to download their software and make a videogame. While I am still unsure about the capabilities of this site, it seems like it gives us the capabilities to make a very sophisticated gamecomplete with audio, design, photography and more, but will be something we as a group look into more over the weekend.
In addition to makeing the game, our group wants to combine media platforms to launch our game. To do so, we plan on making commercials and flyers for our game and releasing them during the week. Then, when the end of the week hits, we can officially launch our game to the public!
Going in to this weekend, I feel really good about our group’s progress. we definitley have some things we need to finalize over the weekend, but once we do I am looking forward to getting started!
